Altitude & Climate:  Hidden Valley Inn is at an altitude of over 2000 feet in Mountain Pine Ridge, Cayo.  The climate of the Mountain Pine Ridge is comfortable year round with an average annual temperature of 73°F.

General Description:  The Mountain Pine Ridge Forest Reserve is the largest and oldest of Belizean parklands, established in 1944. The red earth and sandy terrain, Caribbean pines, granite outcroppings, tumbling waterfalls, huge limestone caves, and rolling open savannah grasslands are bordered by lush tropical rainforest. Our location provides easy access to the many scenic attractions of the area.

Documents and Entry to Belize:  Valid passport is required with onward/return ticket.  No visas are required for US and Canadian citizens, for other foreign nationals, please check requirements directly with the Belize Tourist Board at 1-800-624-0686 for the most current requirements.

Departure Tax: Upon leaving the country there is a departure tax. “Airport Fee” of US$37.50 all fees are paid in cash only, either Belize dollar or US dollar.

Belize Climate: Belize has a sub tropical climate with an average temperature of 80 degrees F. Winters can get as low as the 60′s and summer months can be in the 90′s.

Water: Water in Belize is potable.  Bottled water is available.

Immunizations: For US and Canadian Citizens traveling to Belize, there are no recommended vaccinations provided your routine immunizations are up to date.

Mosquitos: Due to the elevation of Hidden Valley Inn, there are little/no mosquitos.  In the broadleaf forest, or at lesser elevations, mosquitos can be present so insect repellent is suggested, but anti-malaria medications are not necessary.  For jungle hikes, insect repellent with DEET is the most effective repellent.

Languages: English is the official language of Belize. However, English Creole is widely spoken. Spanish, Garifuna and Maya are also spoken.

Currency: The currency exchange in Belize is $2.00 Belize to $1.00 U.S. All businesses accept U.S. currency. Some smaller places don’t accept credit cards so it is safe to bring travelers cheques or cash.

Time: Belize operates on Central Standard Time all year. No Daylight Savings Time is observed.
